Description
German pine rocking chair by Wasa Möbel, dated 1985, with maker’s mark “WASA 1985” beneath the seat cushion.
A sculptural, low-slung form defined by broad, curved side panels and exposed joinery. The solid pine frame is shaped into continuous rocker rails, with a recessed seat and back cushion that sit deeply within the structure. Circular cutouts at the crest rail introduce a graphic element, balancing the weight of the silhouette.
Flat, linear armrests extend forward, integrating with an adjustable, pull-out footrest that rests flush when closed and extends smoothly for a reclined position.
The surface shows a warm, even tone with visible grain, knots, and natural variation throughout the pine, consistent with Brutalist sensibilities of the period.
