Lostine - Hand Carved Buffet

A sculptural oak buffet defined by its intricate hand-carved central panel, signed by the maker in the lower right corner. The carving features a dimensional motif of birds and foliage, backed in canvas and framed by horizontal paneling and two rounded cabinet doors with ornate, branch-inspired pulls.

The interior reveals an unexpected configuration of shelves and compartments. Each side door opens to small curved interior shelves with additional open storage behind. The central compartment is accessible both from the front and from the two hinged top lids, which lift to reveal a deep interior well. Leather straps hold the top doors in place when open, adding a utilitarian detail to the piece’s otherwise decorative surface.

Visible splits and age-related cracks appear along the sides and interior surfaces, consistent with the buffet’s age and handmade construction. These variations do not affect its structural soundness. The piece stands firmly on its layered plinth base, offering both presence and practicality.
